We follow Jace and Clary again but this time Simon has a bigger part to play. It also brings new characters and some we thought were gone.
Within the first couple of chapters Jace is again the angst ridden teenager and the story is slow compared to the first three books in the Mortal Instruments series.
It seems a book that is building up to the next one rather than having it's own individual story line, a little like Half Blood Prince.
I did enjoy this and it only took me two days to finish and at one point I wanted to shout at Jace not to be so naive, so I became emotionally involved, but I was expecting so much more. There was the odd surprise but I knew exactly where it was going to end and I felt a little disappointed.
I love Clare's use of language her similes and metaphors usually flow across the page and I missed them.
Not her best but still above most of the others.
